We have been hearing disturbing news that some Highland voters may be making their decision on Highland City Council candidates based only on the candidate’s position on the Arizona law.
I feel compelled to join the discussion concerning the resolution passed by the Highland City Council to support Arizona’s SB 1070, a law which is designed to enforce immigration laws. The leadership in the city of Highland took a bold step and approved a resolution to send a letter of support to Arizona with copies sent to the Governor, Senate, Congress, and President Obama. Some letter writers have been critical and others have been supportive. I applaud and fully support this action by my city.
