With the new year fast approaching, the chamber is moving full speed ahead to help our business members in 2022. Be sure to mark your calendars for the January luncheon on Tuesday, Jan. 25. The guest speaker is Melissa Howlett, Business Services Specialist in the San Bernardino County Workforce Development Department (WDD).

The Development Department has access to funding that helps businesses save time and money. Its priority is to support local businesses with resources and tools. Services include customized recruitment, including a database of screened applicants. At a time when so many of our businesses are struggling to find employees, this is a most valuable service. This is a “don’t miss” luncheon. You’ll also find out about training programs, how to recoup training costs for new employees, as well as available tax credits.

Tickets to the luncheon are $25 and available for purchase on the chamber website at highlandchamber.org. As always, attendees are welcome to bring raffle items to the luncheon to promote their businesses. Doors open at 11:30 and luncheon concludes at 1 p.m. Many thanks to all those who bought Christmas Trees at our December luncheon and heard more about LifeStream and the critical blood shortage. According to LifeStream Blood Bank, “Our community is not prepared for a large-scale emergency event, and “everyday” blood needs are at risk of not being met.” What a wonderful gift to give this holiday season – call (800) 879-4484 or visit LStream.org to set an appointment to donate blood.

Another business strategy for 2022 is to apply for the city of Highland Coronavirus Recovery Fund. Application is available on the chamber website. Application and qualifying process are very straight forward. Apply soon - funds are limited.

The Highland Area Chamber of Commerce has been serving the community since 1906 and we continue to champion the economic prosperity and quality of life for our region by being the voice of business, promoting collaboration and helping members grow.

The chamber welcome new members: Nathaniel Paredes - CPA, Refresh Commercial Services - Robert and Lisa Mitchell, Rodney Jones - Estate Planning Attorney, Muscle Movers and Wayne Brown, who joined for two years in 2020. The chamber thank Canto’s Jewelers, Santa Claus, Inc. and Valencia Lea Mobile Home Park for their membership renewals. The chamber would also like to recognize our returning sponsors: Chris Marin as a Copper Sponsor and Jim Cimino as a Bronze Sponsor. For more information on memberships and/or sponsorships, please visit the chamber website. On behalf of the Board of Directors, the chamber extends best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season to all those in this great community it serves.
