Members of the Inland Valley Development Agency (IVDA) gathered on Wednesday, July 8, for their regular meeting via videoconference to nominate and vote in two new co-chairs and a vice-chair. City of San Bernardino Mayor John Valdivia and Councilmember Isaac Suchil from the city of Colton were nominated and voted in as the co-chairs.

When it came to the nomination of vice-chair some confusion took place in the nomination process when two names were put forward city of Loma Linda Mayor Phillip Duppper by Valdivia and San Bernardino County Supervisor and Board President Curt Hagman by Supervisor Josie Gonzales. According to a representative from Gonzales's office, during meeting there was a lot “of crosstalk” over the videoconference that caused the confusion. After clearing up the confusion, Dupper was voted in unanimously as vice-chair. It was later determined that an IT glitch caused the confuson, according to Executive Director Michael Burrows.

In other action, Burrows Burrows provided a review of the Hillwood partnership/brokerage agreement. He discussed the process of how Hillwood purchased 500 acres of brac transfer property back in 2002. He also said that Hillwood received a 20 percent discounted land value due to the land being developed, sold or leased.

Burrows also informed the board that IVDA also partners with other developers and “gives courtesy to developers and brokers across the board.”
