On Wednesday, Feb. 3, a new airport sign was unveiled at San Bernardino International Airport. The sign is at Gate 1 south of Mill Street on the northeast corner of Central Avenue and South Tippecanoe Avenue.
The sign will provide a locator for trucks coming and going for UPS and FedEx.
The new sign uses a vertical stabilizer and rudder of a Boeing 737-500, which was donated by airport contractor Unical Aviation, an aircraft recycling company. The aircraft tail traveled across the world for 22-years and accumulated 22,637 flight hours.
Unical also provided a down payment of $57,760.50 for the project while the airport paid the balance of $64,581.50.
