Memorial table

On Monday, Aug. 30, Highland’s American Legion Post 421 set a memorial table to honor the 13 fallen U.S. military personnel killed in a suicide bombing at Kabul airport during the American evacuation of Afghanistan.

The table includes a folded American flag, red roses and 13 half-empty glasses of beer.

The Legion asks that citizens “honor these fine young Americans who sacrificed their lives for our country. Remember their families in prayer.”

The 13 honored service men and women are:

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, 20, Norco, Calif.

Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, 31, Utah

Marine Corps Cpl. Daegan William-Tyeler Page, 23, Omaha, Neb.

Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss, 23, Knoxville, Tenn.

Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario, 25, Lawrence, Maine

Marine Corps Cpl. Humberto Sanchez, 22, Logansport, Ind.

Marine Corps Sgt. Nicole Gee, 23, Roseville, Calif.
