Over 100 volunteers gathered Saturday morning, Nov. 23, at the Immanuel Baptist Church on Base Line, to pack 750 Thanksgiving Baskets to distribute to 24 schools from the San Bernardino Unified School District.

According to Rob Zinn, minister of adult education for Immanuel, most of the volunteers who participated where children. There was also a group of girls called “Girls In Action” who stayed up all night Friday, Nov. 22, to make Christmas cards for all of the boxes, said Ashley Culpepper.

The process was an assembly line where volunteers packed the food into the boxes along with the Christmas cards. The boxes were then taped and placed on pallets, shrink-wrapped and picked up on Monday, Nov. 25, to be distributed to the schools.
