Cleanup team

Regular members of the Highland Improvement Team Monica Hughes and son Christopher work on a Highland project Saturday, June 17.

“I’m blessed,” observed Mrs. B.A. Corley as she watched the Highland Improvement Team (HIT) clean up her back yard.

“I used to keep this place looking good, but I’ve had some health issues and just can’t do what I used to,” she added.

The HIT members chopped weeds, trimmed trees and picked up rash as Saturday, June 17, temperatures began to rise.

The team, organized by Highland Volunteer Coordinator Denise Moreno, targets one location per month.

The team cleans streets, eliminates graffiti, and often cleans the yards of senior citizens in acts of random helpfulness.

For more information on the team and other volunteer opportunities, call Denise at 864-6861, ext. 203.
