Juan Montes winning the 13-14 boys 800 meter run at the SCAUSATF championships.

The Southern California Roadrunners competed in their last track competition prior to the USATF Youth National championships to be held in Durham , North Carolina June 23- 30.

The team raced well at the SCAUSATF track and field championships June 7-9 at Downey High School. Irvin Montes and Ryan Bravo placed 1-2 in the  9-10 boys 1500 meter racewalk. Ahris Mayorga , Joel Mendoza, Prince Watkins  and Smooth Watkins swept 1-2-3-4 in 11-12 boys 1500-meter racewalk . They are ranked among the best in the country. Skye Hanes placed second in the 11-12 girls 1500-meter racewalk and Dhannashy Sanchez was third in the 13-14 girls 3000 meter racewalk.

     Allura Markow competing in the 13-14 division placed second in the 13-14 girls 3000 meter run with 10:23.23 , now ranked 3rd in the country in that event , fourth in the 1500 meter run with 4:50.49 for a PR and ranked fourth in the country for that event and 2:25.05 for fourth . Gabriella Romero had a major break through running 10:45.17 in the 13-14 girls race placing seventh and is ranked among the top 10 in the country.

     Juan Montes was a double winner taking the 13-14 boys 800-meter with a PR of 2:05.33 and winning the 1500 meter run with 4:24.03. Ethan Romero ran 3 PRs with major break through this past weekend placing 2nd in the 13- 14 boys 3000 meter run with 9:37.35. 4th in 1500 meter run 4:29.21 and 2:15.04 in the 800 meters. Edgar Haro ran a PR 2:11.02 in the 800-meter, placed third in the 13-14 1500-meter and fourth in the 13-14 3000-meter run.

Vincente Quiroz ran three PR's in his first championship meet with 2:11.97 in the 800-meter, 4:37.70 in the 1500 and 10:08.45.

     Isabella Bravo ran a PR 2:25.70 in the 11-12 girls 800 meter run for fourth. Bradley Quezada and Richard Olivares ran PRs in the 11-12 boys 800 meter run. Paradise Watkins placed third with a PR of 4.49 meters in the 8-under girls shot put. Gavin Haynes placed second in the boys 15-16 pole vault. Abrielle Ontiveros placed fourth in the  9-10 girls 1500-meter run with 5:28.62. Natalie Gonzalez, Isabelle Castenada and Vanessa Perez also ran PRs in the same event.

     The team will travel to Durham, North Carolina with competition to begin June 25 at the USATF Youth national track and field championships.
