The Redlands Footlighters presents its production of comedy play “The Cemetery Club” through the month of April.
The Cemetery Club, originally opened in 1990, is a comedy-drama that tells the story of Ida, Doris and Lucille, three longtime friends who, over the past several years, have all struggled with the loss of their husbands.
Once a month the three gather at the cemetery to visit their dead husbands' graves. While Lucille has moved on to “play the field” again, Ida struggles to decide if she should begin dating after being alone for so long, and Doris remains fiercely devoted to husband. Together, the three of them work their way through loss, friendship and even a new love interest — Sam the local butcher.
The Footlighters’ production is directed by Pamela Lambert and stars Teresa Dolan as Ida, Cindi East as Doris, Catherine Soto as Lucille, Spencer Mansouri as Sam and Debi Madden as Mildred.
The Cemetery Club was also a 1993 film directed by Bill Duke. The film stared Olympia Dukakis, Ellen Burstyn, Diane Ladd and Danny Aiello.
