Operation Thanksgiving and Operation Christmas are evolving, but still with us.

Initiated by the KiwanisClub of Highland in cooperation with the Highland ZPolice Department and the Highland Family Y, here are the plans for this year:

Operation Thanksgiving will be the usual free Thanksgiving dinner ast the Highland Family Y with volunteers cooking and serving the turkey with all the trimmings at the Y on Nov. 22 from 6-8 p.m; Although free, reservations should be made by Nov. 17 for better planning.

The Police Department will be providing family meals based on reports from the Police Department patrol deputies and firefighters who come across families in need. the meaqls will be delivered to them in time for Thanksgiving.

Operation Christmas will provide toys for families with kids, based on those same reports.

The Kiwanis Club will be wrapping the toys specifically targeted to those families whose names are submitted by police and firefighters..

In addition, the Highlanders Boxing Club is hosting it 8th Annual Turkey drive, handing out free turkeys from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the Boxing Club, 26127 Sixth St. in Highland.
