Stolen trailer

A trailer that was used to collect toys and shoes, and also used to deliver fresh vegetables for the poor, was stolen from the Giving Garden at Highland Congregational Church early Monday, Oct. 9.

Tracey Powell, founder of the Giving Garden and mother of Faith Powell, who collects shoes to buy toys for foster children, says the trailer was stolen some time between 2 and 4 a.m.

The 22-foot utility trailer (license plate 4GU3194) was not the only loss. The thieves also took a wheelbarrow, a shovel and seeds from the garden and then broke into two cargo containers that belong to the church and stole another wheelbarrow and a 12-foot ladder.

Video shows the suspects, a man and a woman, driving off with the trailer towed by a white pickup truck.

“I am bummed out,” says Tracey Powell. “We used that trailer so much to help out our community with the Giving Garden and for Faith’s shoes and toys. This really makes things much harder for us to do what we do. So unfortunate.”
