Kidnapping suspect and vehicle

The sheriff's department is seeking the public's assistance in locating a suspect and vehicle that was carjacked with a 3-year-old girl inside.

Update: As of 10:40 a.m., the sheriff's department reported that the vehicle has been found and the report of a kidnapping had been unfounded.

Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who carjacked from a Highland parking lot a vehicle with a 3-year-old girl inside.

According to a sheriff’s department press release, at 8:13 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, the suspect stole the victim’s vehicle from 25785 Base Line in Highland with the victim’s 3-year-old daughter inside the car. The car was parked in a small shopping center containing a laundromat and nail salon.

The vehicle is a tan 1998 Infiniti Q45, with a California license 4AQV268.

The suspect is described as a black male, short in height, wearing a blue hat and a multi-colored (grey/blue/red) sweater.

The child is a 3-year-old black female, light complexion, 3 feet tall and 30 pounds. She is wearing a grey onesie jumper.

The sheriff’s department released on its Facebook page surveillance video of the carjacking in order to provide the public images of the stolen car and the suspect.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the child should call 911 or local law enforcement agency.
