At approximately 10:23 p.m. a driver was killed in a collision with a semi-truck on the 27000 block of Fifth Street.

According to a sheriff’s department press release, Highland deputies and Cal Fire personnel responded to the call and extracted the driver of the vehicle. Medical personnel conducted lifesaving measures on-scene and the driver was transported to Loma Linda Medical Center by ambulance. He was pronounced deceased soon after arrival to the hospital.

The identity of the driver his being withheld pending notification of next of kin and further investigation. The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene
