At 12:24 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, a fatal traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle occurred on Fifth Street at the intersection with Del Rosa Drive in Highland.

According to a sheriff’s department press release, the motorcycle rider suffered major injuries as a result of the collision. Paramedics from the Highland Fire Department and American Medical Response performed CPR on the rider at the scene, and he was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The motorcycle rider, a 27-year-old San Bernardino resident, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision and no one was charged with any crimes.
