Highland deputies have arrested a Highland man after another Highland man was found shot dead late Monday on Hillview Street.   

At 11:27 p.m. Sept. 10, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to an apartment in the 26800 block of Hillview Street following the report of a shooting, according to a press release.

“Upon arrival, deputies located the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” the release says. “Emergency medical personnel responded to the location and transported the victim to a local area hospital.

The victim, 26-year-old Michael Spinks, was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 12:05 am.

The Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail identified a, 24-year-old Lonnie Cover, who had been with Spinks at his residence before the shooting. Cover was arrested, and booked into the Central Detention Center for PC 187 Murder.
