On Thursday, June 27, Highland deputies arrested George Brewer, 65, a suspect in the burglary of the Highland Market on the 25400 block of Ninth Street.

According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department press release, at approximately 4:28 a.m. in June 27 Deputies J. Hernandez and T. Houn responded to an audible alarm at the Highland Market.

Once deputies arrived on scene, they noticed the locks to the main front security door had been cut and the glass door had been pried and forced opened. Once inside, the unknown suspect had ransacked the inside of the market and stolen several items. During the investigation, deputies determined the suspect was wearing brown or dark clothing, a dark jacket and light green camouflage backpack.

As Deputy Hernandez was leaving the scene, he observed a male subject riding his bicycle in the area. The male matched the description of the suspect from the burglary.

Deputy Hernandez contacted the bicyclist and identified him as George Brewer. Brewer was found to have an active misdemeanor warrant issued for his arrest. During a search of Brewer's backpack, Deputy Hernandez located all the property that was stolen during the burglary at the Highland Market.
