On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Highland deputies responded to Beattie Middle School after receiving information from the school administrative staff, regarding a possible threat of a school shooting, and after investigation determined it was not a credible threat.

According to a sheriff’s department press release, at the time of the report the school had been dismissed, but deputies were able to interview the involved party who made the alleged threat. Other involved students provided written statements about the incident and left the school.

Based on the investigation, the threat was vetted and deemed to be unfounded. Additional interviews will be conducted at a later date. The issue appears to be isolated between two students who engaged in a verbal argument earlier in the day. There are no additional known threats to the school at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Highland Police Department at (909) 425-9793. Callers wishing to remain anonymous are urged to call the We-Tip Hotline at 1 (800) 78-CRIME (27463) or you may leave information on the We-Tip Hotline at wetip.com.
