The Highland City Council approved, during its Feb. 25 meeting, the purchase of a new heavy-duty pickup to replace an aging pickup used by the Public Works Department.

Total cost for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD 2WD Crew Cab work truck with dump bed was $53,576.42. That cost included $16,645 for the installation of a dump bed, $400 for two additional keys and taxes. The contract price for the pickup was $32,553.07.

The truck was purchased from National Auto Fleet Group through the city’s contract with Sourcewell, a municipal contracting agency.

The council also approved the sale of Public Works Department’s 2000 Ford F-450 Super Duty through The Auction Company for a fee of 10 percent of the auction price.
