Over 400 students took part in a first time drive-thru graduation on Thursday, June 18, at San Gorgonio High School; the ceremony began at 8 a.m. and went until 4:30 p.m.

Just after 10 a.m. special guest San Bernardino City Unified School District Board President Gwendolyn Rodgers joined Principal Dion Clark on stage to congratulate students and join them for their graduation photos, if the graduates wished.

During a break in the action Rodgers and Clark, along with two San G employees boogied, on stage. Some even said that San G was “the official party school of the district.”

Rogers said the drive-thru event was approved at the last minute and she was glad the district was able to let happen. She also said, “Our kids have went through a lot this year and deserve this.”

Students’ families were encouraged to honk their horns as the graduates went up on stage to accept their diplomas from Clark.
