Danny Lee Wilburn passed away Sept. 21, 2017 at his home in Morongo Valley.

Danny was born June 13, 1945 in San Bernardino. His parents, Richard C. Wilburn and Wanda M. Wilburn, raised him in Highland. Growing up, Danny achieved many awards as a long time Boy Scout of America. He graduated from Pacific High School in 1963.

Danny worked for GTE/Verizon for over 35 years where he formed many boundless friendships. He had a famous sense of humor among his family, friends and colleagues and noteworthy rapport with whomever he met. Danny was a big fan of baseball and played in Palm Spring’s Leagues for many years. He even pitched a no hitter. He also loved football and most of all, Nascar. He enjoyed attending races and his favorite driver was #88, Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Denise Carol Wilburn “Dee Cee.” He is survived by his three children, Denise Carroll (Kevin) of Carlsbad, Calif., Darlene Klingaman (Larry) of El Segundo, Calif., Danny R. Wilburn (Melissa) of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., his stepdaughter, Linsey Stanford (Marvin) of Winter Park, Fla., and his partner Diane Jones. Danny loved his 12 grandchildren; Chrissy, Camryn, Carly, Lauren, Larry, Danny, Nicholas, Kailey, Marlin, Marshael, Michael and Sophia, and they adored their “Papa Dan” just as much.

He is also survived by his first wife, Mary Moher, and his biological siblings, Dorothy Burns, Bill, Jerry, Robert and Danny Anglin. He was also preceded in death by his biological sister, May Boyer.

A Celebration of Life for Danny will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Mission Lakes Country Club, 8484 Clubhouse Blvd., Desert Hot Springs, Calif.
