David Coleman, a longtime elementary school principal with the San Bernardino Unified School District, died on Dec. 22. He was 76.
Coleman is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sue Coleman, and his daughters Brenda Bonn (Austin) of Franklin, Tenn., and Tamara Coleman of Colton and four granddaughters: Madison, Taylor and Alexis Bonn and Clara Coleman.
Before his 17 years as a principal, Coleman taught fifth and sixth grades.
Born on April 22, 1941, in Loma Linda, Coleman was graduated by San Bernardino High School in 1959. He earned his bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and a master’s from Cal State, Los Angeles.
Coleman was a member of Rotary International, where he received many awards. He also active in San Bernardino Police Department’s Citizens Patrol.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino.
