Fred Lee Johnson Jr., 76, previously of Highland died on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, in Memphis, Tenn. Johnson was born on Oct. 10, 1945.
Master Sgt. (retired) Johnson served at Norton Air Force Base from 1972 until his retirement from the Air Force in 1984. He remained in the Inland Empire for many years afterward, but eventually returned to his hometown of Memphis.
Johnson was a member of American Legion Post 710 in San Bernardino for many years.
He is survived by his daughter (Haruko) Renee Johnson and grandson Ethan Johnson, both of Mariettta, Ga.; brothers Sherman and Ronald Johnson; sisters Sheryl Johnson Batten (Michael), Wanda Johnson, Anita Polk (Donald) and Tracy Johnson, all of Memphis; brother-in-law Edward Thomas of Carson; former spouse Mary Thomas Johnson of Highland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held on Friday, March 12, N.J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Memphis and burial was on Monday, March 15, at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Memphis.
