Longtime Highland resident George Oehling, 91, died on Wednesday, May 19.
He was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Oehling served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in Korea during the war. He and his cherished wife, Mary, relocated to the Highland area in 1960.
Oehling worked for over 30 years as an engineer for Kaiser Steel in Fontana. Along with Mary, he was active in the Highland community especially the Highland Senior Center.
George was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary; two daughters, Jill and Tracy; one granddaughter, Breanna; and one grandson, Sean. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Scott.
A service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 29 at 10:00 am at Riverside National Cemetery.
