Richard B. Hotchkiss, died at home in San Bernardino Oct. 17, 2017. He was 75 years old.
Richard was born April 28, 1942, in Redlands to parents Richard and Myrtle Hotchkiss. He was a graduate of Redlands High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Buchanan DDG-14.
After discharge from the military, he went to work for General Telephone and then Colton Police Department where he was a patrolman and detective. After retirement, Richard started his own business as a private investigator.
Richard was an avid gardener who was known for his avocado trees and irises. He enjoyed camping and boating with family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Hotchkiss; daughter, Kimberly Hotchkiss of Highland; son, Kenny Hotchkiss of Sacramento; grandchildren, A, J. Rojas, Marissa Rojas and Drew Hernandez; brothers, Wally Hotchkiss and Ernie Hotchkiss; sisters-in-law, Sherry Cowan and Jacque Takano (Kaz); uncle, Keith Hotchkiss.
Graveside service, Oct. 30, 2017 at 9:40 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside. Following the service, there will be a gathering at the Hotchkiss' family home in San Bernardino. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Richard's life.
