Tomasa “Emma” Gallegos, 99, passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Highland on Monday, May 27, 2019, with family at her bedside.
She was preceded in death by husband, Felix, four sisters and one brother.
Born in Standard, Calif, (now Tulare county) she lived in Mexico and Texas before returning to live in California. She enjoyed going to Langley and Bella Vista adult schools in Monterey Park, where she was credited for making the most “trips” during the school year.
Her forte was gardening. She could grow a weed to look like an elegant plant.
In Highland, she enjoyed playing Bunco at the senior center, watching TV, reading and listening to Spanish music.
Emma leaves behind a son, Jose and his wife Carmen; five grandchildren, Jose J., Patricia, Jaime, Carmen C., Joaquin; her niece Lisa; 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, her sister Celia and her brother, Roberto.
She will be buried next to her husband.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28, in St. Adelaide Church, 27457 Base Line, Highland. Graveside services will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 966 Potrero Grande Dr. in Rosemead.
