To the editor:

The coronavirus pandemic laid waste to small businesses across California. Now, looting and vandalism are complicating matters further. My small IT solutions and cybersecurity firm, Tec-Refresh, has felt the impacts.

Shrinking budgets sparked by a devolving economy have compelled clients we’ve worked with for years to pause service and withhold payments to preserve cashflow. Thankfully, the revenue shortfall we experienced was temporarily resolved by a forgivable loan received through the Paycheck Protection Program. But the financial Band-Aid won’t last forever.

California officials need to continue to work toward reopening the economy and allowing businesses to put in place their own protocols that will best protect workers and customers alike. I have no doubt the American spirit will help us prevail through these troubling times.
