Aquinas celebration

The Aquinas High basketball team was rewarded well for its 2021 excellence.

Aquinas High’s Sheldon Grant and Nick Hopkins were Co-Players of the Year for the All-Ambassador League basketball team.

Grant and Hopkins led Aquinas to league, section and CIF-State Southern California Regional titles.

Aquinas’ David Johnson was named Coach of the Year. Also making the first team for Aquinas were Vugar Kuliev and Keishmer Charles. The Falcons’ Rodarial Abercrombie made the second team.

Arrowhead Christian’s Todd Jackson and Bailey Strikwerda made the first team and the Eagles’ Chimobi Ozonhoh earned second-team honors.

Loma Linda Academy’s Aidan Roman made the first team and the Roadrunners’ Kaleo Loh made the second team.

In girls’ basketball, Loma Linda Academy’s Daniel Kim was named Coach of the Year and the Roadrunners’ Allison Kim and Emma Paden earned first-team honors. team. Rebehah Mendoza made the second team for the Roadrunners.

Earning first team for Arrowhead Christian was Aliyah Rosete and the Eagles’ Emma Hargett made the second team.

Aquinas’ Arabella Carrera earned second-team honors.

Aquinas’ Eric Bitonti was named Pitcher of the Year for All-Ambassador League baseball. Also making the first team for Aquinas were Seth Casena, Ethan Creek, Cade Nolan and Landon Young.

Earning second team for Aquinas were Seth Rajacich and Kaden Willerford.

Making first team for Arrowhead Christian was Bradley Gilbert. Earning second team for ACA was Ryan Rossi.

Aquinas’ Reina Castillo was named Pitcher of the Year for All-Ambassador League softball. Also making the first team for Aquinas were Jaeya Butler, Alexa Duran and Anissa Villalobos. Making second team for Aquinas were Dannika Merlos and Elle Navarro.

Arrowhead Christian’s Gwen Murray and Stephanie Wagner made first team and ACA’s Rylee Dirks earned second team for All-Ambassador softball.

Loma Linda Academy’s Meadow Stumpf made the second team.

Making the All-Ambassador first team for track and field from Aquinas were Anthony Cooper, Keinan Pate, Christian Burroughs. Earning second team from Aquinas were Jalen Cooper, Rafael Ybarra, Romeo Ross and Nicholas Ervin.

Janel Pido of Aquinas was named the Multi-Event Athlete of the Year for Ambassador League girls’ track.

Also making first team for Aquinas was Marisa Cornejo. Earning second team for Aquinas were Gia Albama, Aiyannah Lopez, Sylicia Murguia and Mia Saenz.

Earning first team for girls’ track from Arrowhead Christian was Julia Huston. Making second team for the Eagles were Taylor Distelbert and Sara Rearick.

Loma Linda Academy’s Matt Diehl was named Co-Player of the Year for All-Ambassador League boys’ golf and the Roadrunners’ Leo Adorador was named Co-Coach of the Year.

Making first team for Loma Linda besides Diehl was Ayan Desai, Evan Knecht, Joe Park and Noah Saesim made second team.

Earning first team for Arrowhead Christian were Reuben Kok and Matthew Wilkes. Steven Van Dam of the Eagles made second team.

Making second team for Aquinas was Collin Hladik.

Angel Pais of Aquinas was named Offensive Player of the Year for All-Ambassador League boys’ soccer and the Falcons’ George Flores was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Making first team for Aquinas besides Pais and Flores were Joshua Bennett and Brian Morales. The Falcons’ Robert Gomez and Anthony Grajeda made second team.

Loma Linda Academy’s Anders Borg made first team and the Roadrunners’ Seth Guinan earned second team.

Arrowhead Christian’s Peyton Otterman made first team and ACA’s Braden Johnson earned second team.

High-scoring Madeline Hood was named Offensive Player of the Year for All-Ambassador League girls’ soccer. Also making first team for the Eagles were Carli Calzaretta, Laney Herrero and Ella Luna. Earning second team for ACA were Kayla Goodwin and Aylie Hayock.

Aquinas’ Kendrick Robbins made first team for girls’ soccer and Gia Aldama and Marisa Cornejo earned second team.

Loma Linda’s Kylie Balog made first team and the Roadrunners’ Hanna Bahri made second team.

Aquinas’ Celine DeCourten and Gabby Zendejas made the All-Ambassador League first team for tennis singles.

Earning All-Ambassador League first team for boys’ cross-country were Elijah McBroom and Brody Wolfe for Arrowhead Christian.

Making first team for Aquinas were Alejandro Ayala and Joshua Bennett.

Aquinas’ Mia Saenz made first team for All-Ambassador League girls’ cross-country, as did the Falcons’ Aiyannah Lopez, Natalie Brazfield and Kendrick Robbins.
